WWE News: Curtis Axel slung upside down on Raw
What's the story?
Curtis Axel found himself in a bit of an uncomfortable situation on Raw when he was discovered slung upside down backstage by The Miz and a couple of referees.
In case you didn't know...
It was decided that The Shield would face Cesaro and Sheamus along with the Miz and Braun Strowman, and possibly a mysterious fifth man at TLC.
Curtis Axel was responsible for helping The Miz to beat down Roman Reigns in the lead up to the reunification of The Shield. The first time The Miz mocked The Shield it was in a fist bump shared with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas.
The heart of the matter
The match was set between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns to decide if there would be a fifth man in The Miz's team for TLC. Curtis Axel tried to encourage Braun Strowman backstage prior to the match. He spelt out how much he wanted to be the fifth man on the team and the fact that he wanted to beat up Roman Reigns.
Braun Strowman told him that if he wanted to beat up Roman Reigns then he should go do it. When he hesitated Sheamus and Cesaro said that the fifth man in their team would be someone not afraid to take on Roman Reigns. Determined to prove himself to the rest of them, Curtis went in search of Roman.
He found Roman talking to Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and charged at them. The Miz learnt of what had happened and went in search of the Miztourage member.
He found Curtis Axel hung upside down backstage after having been obviously beaten up by the Shield. With the help of two referees, The Miz got him down and revealed that he is not the fifth man that he had in mind.
What's next?
Axel may not be the fifth man, but The Miz had another man in mind for the position. Curtis will need to recover from his beating at the hands of the Shield.
Author's take
Curtis Axel has been one of the most entertaining stars on the Miztourage lately and his promo was actually a good one. Though he is unlikely to have any good matches in the foreseeable future, he will look to help The Miz win at TLC if he is able to.
