WWE News: Daniel Bryan comments on working with Shane McMahon and his on-going storyline with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
What’s the story?
WWE Smackdown Live General Manager and former World Champion Daniel Bryan recently spoke about his working relationship with Commissioner Shane McMahon and his thoughts regarding the on-going storyline with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn on the blue brand of WWE.
In case you didn’t know…
Bryan REtired from professional wrestling back in 2015 due to several neck injuries. Earlier in the week, former four-time WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan finally got the green signal from several WWE doctors, who finally decided to medically clear the former WWE Intercontinental Champion and once again allowed him to compete in the squared circle.
The heart of the matter
In a very recent interview with The National, former four-time WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan opened up about his working relationship with the commissioner of Smackdown Live, Shane McMahon. Bryan stated that his association with Shane has turned out to be a solid relationship and “The American Dragon” has really liked working alongside the McMahon family member.
In addition, Bryan said that one of the nicest things about working alongside Shane McMahon is that he is a very positive and encouraging person who always lives up to his leadership skills. (H/T: mandatory.com/wrestlezone)
“When we first started working together it was really interesting because we were shooting a shot backstage and it didn’t go as planned because the camera guy was new. But he didn’t chew him out or anything like that. ‘Hey man, welcome here. This is how we do things here so next time do it like this’. And that is a great way for a leader to talk to people who work for him rather than being ‘Argh, you idiot, what are you doing’. So yeah, I really enjoy working with him.”
Furthermore, Daniel Bryan also gave his take on the on-going storyline between him, Shane McMahon and recently "fired" Smackdown Live Superstars Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Bryan stated that there is a lot of similarity between him, Owens and Zayn, in terms of their initial backgrounds in the wrestling business and the fact that the WWE Universe is able to connect so well with both Owens and Zayn makes their on-going storyline a very natural narrative to tell.
“In terms of where we come from and also kind of the perception of some of the people in the office about Sami and Kevin and the way that people perceived me as far as thinking ‘Sami Zayn does not have the look to be a top level WWE superstar’. But he has the ability. Like people connect with him and I think the same thing with Kevin Owens and I think that makes it a very natural storyline to tell.”
What’s next?
Following the recent firing of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, it looks like the WWE is currently heading towards a potential tag team match between Owens and Zayn against Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34, next month in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Daniel Bryan’s official in-ring return is certainly going to be a huge mark-out moment for the entire pro wrestling world and there is no doubt on the fact that “The American Dragon” is going to fire on all cylinders, once he steps back into the squared circle.
