WWE News: Daniel Bryan fires back at Cody Rhodes
What’s the story?
Daniel Bryan has taken to social media to fire back at Cody Rhodes’ recent Yes taunts, as well as the latter's application of Bryan's signature move, the Yes Lock, over Minoru Suzuki.
On that note, Bryan sent out the following Tweet, insinuating that he’d be more than happy to show Cody the real version of the Yes Lock by making Minoru Suzuki tap out.
In case you didn’t know…
The duo’s social media beef goes way back to when Daniel Bryan congratulated Cody on social media following the latter’s title-winning performance that saw the former WWE Superstar capture the ROH (Ring Of Honor) World Championship.
Bryan, having performed for ROH from 2002-09 and held the ROH World Championship, warned Cody that should the latter hold the title for 462 days (Bryan’s record reign with the title), he would love to come over to ROH and take the belt off Cody.
The heart of the matter
Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract runs out in September of next year, and the vast majority of professional wrestling pundits believe that he’s likely to refrain from renewing his contract with the company, and instead sign with ROH and perform for them; since the WWE doctors aren’t ready to clear him for an in-ring return.
In his match against Minoru Suzuki at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor XV PPV a few days ago, Cody mocked Bryan by using the latter’s Yes! chants as well as performing the Yes! Lock on Suzuki.
Apparently, Bryan got wind of the same, and issued a rather intriguing response to Cody mimicking him:
“A REAL message would have been actually forcing Minoru Suzuki to tap out. I may have to show him how it's done... #trolling4life.”
What’s next?
Daniel Bryan presently serves as the on-screen General Manager for SmackDown Live and is rumoured to be leaving WWE after his contract with the promotion expires in the Summer of 2018.
Author’s take
Well, Daniel is an adult and should he feel fit enough to get back in the ring once again, who are we to stop him.
Mind you, all signs point toward him wrestling for ROH after leaving WWE next year, and should that come to fruition, we could get to witness a super-fight between Bryan and Cody.
