WWE News: Daniel Bryan reveals why he lost the Greatest Royal Rumble Match
What's the story?
Daniel Bryan entered the Greatest Royal Rumble match at #1, meaning his odds of winning and outlasting forty-nine other WWE Superstars were astronomical.
However, it looked like he might have done it after smashing the record for longest time in a Royal Rumble match, but sadly Bryan was eliminated by Big Cass after one hour and sixteen minutes.
In case you didn't know...
Braun Strowman would win the Greatest Royal Rumble by eliminating Big Cass. The final three were Strowman, Big Cass and Daniel Bryan and the recently cleared Superstar and former SmackDown Live General Manager almost had 'The Monster Among Men' over the ropes.
However, Cass blindsided him and eliminated him before being thrown out by Strowman.
The heart of the matter
So why does Daniel Bryan think he lost the match despite smashing Rey Mysterio's previous Rumble record of one hour and two minutes in the match by a whopping fourteen minutes? The Superstar addressed his record-breaking run and eventual loss in a backstage interview.
Bryan said, "I didn't lose that match because I was tired I lost that match because I couldn't, today, I couldn't get Braun Strowman out of the ring, no-one could."
Bryan also addresses the person who ruined his chest with chops, attributing the nasty looking welts to NXT Superstar and current NXT Tag-Team Champion Roderick Strong who knows Bryan very well and wanted to give him a reunion present!
What's next?
Interestingly Bryan doesn't attribute him losing the match to Big Cass who was the one to unceremoniously dump him to the outside. I guess it's because Bryan genuinely doesn't think Cass mattered. However, the two men are set to face off at Backlash after Cass attacked Bryan on the night of his return from injury.
Author's take
Daniel Bryan being back in the ring still hasn't gotten old yet and it was a pleasure to see him in this Greatest Royal Rumble match and have little wrestling moments with the likes of Kurt Angle, Chad Gable, Roderick Strong and others.
