WWE News: Daniel Bryan says GM role is part of wrestling he doesn't like

Daniel Bryan was interviewed by Peter Rosenburg and said that while he appreciates his General Manager role with WWE, but it’s the part of wrestling he doesn’t like.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Bryan was named the SmackDown General Manager during the week of the 2016 Draft. The announcement of Bryan’s new role with the company came months after the former WWE Champion announced his retirement from professional wrestling.
The Heart of the Matter
Bryan said that he loved the professional wrestling world, but didn’t like all aspects of it such as travelling and cutting promos. Transcriptions from Wrestling Inc.
"I love [professional] wrestling, but I don't love all of it, right? The hard part of wrestling is the travel and going here and there and being away from your family. The part that I love is being in the ring and wrestling. Yeah, being in there and doing it. So now, I've got the job that's the part of wrestling that I don't like.”
Bryan said he was appreciative of WWE giving him the job as the SmackDown General Manager, but that it wasn’t the same as being an active competitor.
“I am very appreciative of WWE giving me this something to do, but I think some people still think, 'oh, you're in wrestling still and you're getting a pay check - you should be happy.'"
What’s Next?
Bryan has been very open regarding his desire to continue wrestling and has said multiple times that he would be willing to leave the WWE to pursue professional wrestling if he wasn’t allowed to return to the ring.
The current storyline with Shane McMahon has caused many to speculate whether Bryan will return to the ring next year for WrestleMania 34.

Bryan has developed into a fine talker since joining WWE, but it’s abundantly clear that he would prefer in-ring action to his current job.
