WWE News: Daniel Bryan teases a dream match, opponent responds
What's the story?
SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan may have retired from in-ring competition in WWE, owing to a lesion in his brain and several concussions, but he still harbours a dream of competing outside the ring, someday.
He was asked on Twitter, about a prospective match against any member of the current roster, including those in NXT. Bryan named his dream opponent almost immediately.
Nakamura was quick to respond and said that he would like to face Bryan too, at some point in the future, somewhere, someday.
In case you didn't know...
Daniel Bryan, arguably the most popular babyface of the modern era, retired from in-ring competition last year, following several concussion-related injuries. What is not really known is that he was once a roommate of Shinsuke Nakamura, and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Lyoto Machida.
Because of their shared love for professional wrestling, both superstars obviously have a lot of respect for one another.
The heart of the matter
It is clear that Bryan looks to compete outside WWE someday. His love for wrestling is too great to be held down by the constraints of the WWE. Many consider him to be the greatest professional wrestler to step into the squared circle. Nakamura has the utmost respect for him as well and would love to give Bryan his last match.
As for the match itself, there's no way it wouldn't be absolutely exemplary, considering just how good the two men, who would be competing are!
What's next?
Shinsuke Nakamura goes one-on-one against Jinder Mahal at Hell in a Cell for the WWE Championship. Bryan will continue to play an authority figure, at least till his contract with WWE runs out.
Author's take
I can totally see Daniel Bryan wrestling outside WWE some day. He has made his intentions of doing so, amply clear. Whether or not he wrestles Shinsuke Nakamura, remains to be seen, really.
