What’s the story?

WWE Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan recently spoke with American radio disc jockey and Pro Wrestling admirer Peter Rosenborg on a number of Pro Wrestling related topics. During his interaction with Rosenborg, Bryan talked about his soon-to-be-brother in law and former in-ring rival John Cena and also discussed learning promos from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

In case you didn’t know…

Former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan is considered as one of the most gifted in-ring performers to have ever stepped foot into the wrestling ring. The 36-year-old is a former Grand Slam Champion of the WWE and is a former four-time WWE World Champion.

Bryan, who is currently married to former Divas Champion Brie Bella, is also a former Ring of Honor World Champion and has made a name for himself in Japan as well after having wrestled for Pro Wrestling NOAH in the past.

The former GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion has also wrestled for top Japanese wrestling promotion New Japan Pro Wrestling in the past, where he became a one-time IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champion with Cristopher Daniels (Then known as Curry Man).

Unfortunately for Bryan, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion had to retire from in-ring competition in 2016 due to several injuries, including seizures.

The heart of the matter

During his chat with Rosenborg, Bryan conversed about his relationship with John Cena outside the wrestling ring and had some high praises for the leader of the Cenation.

Daniel started off by saying that he and Cena are very much into the same kind of topics and claimed that John is someone who believes that technology will save the day.

Despite keeping a healthy relationship with John Cena outside the wrestling world, Bryan stated that he and Nikki Bella’s fiancée are still not that close, but loves talking to Cena regardless of anything.

“He will really make you question your assumptions about stuff, like, ‘won’t this happen? Won’t that?’ and so, yeah, his brain works so fast.”- Bryan stated.

Bryan would also put over Cena’s mic-skills and praised the 16-time World Champion for his terrific talking abilities. Bryan also went on to reveal that he had previously worked with Chairman Vince McMahon during his promo classes.

Bryan expressed that talking on the mic is certainly not an easy job and there is a definite art form to it, but the 36-year-old believes that John Cena is the master of it. The former WWE Champion furthermore revealed that he had once done a promo class with Vince McMahon and the WWE Chairman also helped him and taught him a lot during the class.

“It was a classroom full of people, but you’re learning interviews from Vince McMahon and watching the way he thinks about it and the way he talks about it, it’s like, ‘whoa, this guy’s on a different level’.”- Bryan added.

The former World Champion would then talk about WWE still selling his merch on their official website and revealed his feelings towards it. According to Bryan, he feels like a hypocrite for WWE still selling his merch as the former WWE Tag Team Champion would also disclose that he had stopped wearing his t-shirts to the ring during his last run in the WWE, due to him becoming anti-consumerism.

What’s next?

Bryan might be retired from in-ring competition but for months now, there have been certain speculation that has suggested that the former WWE Champion could be returning to the squared circle. Wrestling fans around the globe could potentially witness Daniel Bryan wrestle once again. However, only time will tell if the WWE medical team decides to clear Bryan or not, but as of right now let us just hope for the best.

Author’s take

There is absolutely no doubt that the entire WWE Universe would love to see Daniel Bryan make his return to the wrestling ring.

Bryan is still in his 30s and judging by his Instagram feed it seems like “The American Dragon” has been hitting the gym on a regular basis.
