What's the story?

Johnny Gargano has a huge match at NXT TakeOver against his former tag-team partner Tomasso Ciampa with his career in NXT on the line after already losing his job in a match against NXT Champion Andrade "Cien" Almas, however one man who is bizarrely hoping he loses is SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan.

In case you didn't know...

The rivalry between Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa has been one of WWE's best feuds in quite some time with Ciampa stunningly turning against his DIY tag team partner after they failed to win the NXT Tag Team Titles against Authors of Pain, and then returning to attack Gargano after his match of the year candidate against Andrade "Cien" Almas for the NXT title.

The heart of the matter

Whilst the WWE Universe will be hoping Johnny Gargano can finally get his revenge against his backstabbing ex-friend, one man who sort of wants Gargano to lose is SmackDown Manager Daniel Bryan, who addressed the WWE WrestleMania Axxess crowd and stated he wanted the popular NXT star on SmackDown Live.

Bryan was asked who from NXT he's had his eye on as SmackDown General Manager and he bigged up the tag team match that had just happened before setting his sights on Johnny.

"But one guy, even though I want.. I want him to lose tonight because I want to steal him and that's Johnny Gargano. So I'm making it public, I want Johnny Gargano on SmackDown Live"

What's next?

This could be yet another sign that we're not going to get the fairy-tale happy ending we want for this feud with Gargano moving on to the main roster. One man however who wasn't too happy about Bryan's declaration was Gargano's TakeOver opponent.

Author's take

Personally I'd love for Johnny Gargano to move up to the main roster but I'd really love to see him capture the WWE NXT Title before he moves up.
