From the WWE Rumor Mill: Details about Brock Lesnar's new contract with WWE revealed by X-Pac

E
Lesnar has been Universal Champion since WrestleMania 33

What's the story?

On the latest episode of his show X-Pac 1,2,360 Sean Waltman, better known to the WWE Universe as X-Pac, discussed the terms of Brock Lesnar's new contract with WWE, which he signed after WrestleMania.

In case you didn’t know…

Brock Lesnar has held the WWE Universal Championship for over a year, after having it won it from Goldberg last year at WrestleMania 33. It was believed that Lesnar would be leaving WWE and heading towards UFC after dropping the title to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 since his contract with WWE was up.

However, in a shocking turn, The Beast Incarnate retained the title at WM 34 after a brutal beatdown of Reigns. It was then announced that Lesnar had signed a new contract with WWE.

The heart of the matter

In the show, Waltman and Christy Olson discussed the terms of Lesnar's new contract.Olson revealed that Lesnar was being paid an astronomical $637,000 per fight and $127,000 for every TV appearance. The contract is not a full time one, and Lesnar will be paid as and when he is needed for an appearance.

While Waltman neither denied nor confirmed this, he did go on to say that Lesnar had a new 'Imaging' deal, which allowed WWE to license his image and pay Lesnar a fee for it, so that they could use it for merchandising and other purposes like video games. Olson went on to reveal that Lesnar would get an additional 6% cut from the merchandise sales as well.

X-Pac added that the deal wouldn't have gone through if it wasn't beneficial to WWE as well and said that the deal would do good to WWE, Lesnar and the fans who want to see him in the company.

Of course, at this point, neither WWE nor Lesnar himself has spoken about the new contract and until they do, the details cannot be fully verified.

What's next?

Lesnar will take on Roman Reigns inside a Steel Cage for the Universal Championship tonight at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Author's take

X-Pac is bang on point saying that the deal wouldn't have been made, if it wasn't beneficial for WWE. There's no doubt Vince McMahon is a shrewd businessman who knows what is good for the company.

But it seems like Lesnar will be the one who benefits most from the deal, as he will earn leaps and bounds above full-time stars and has to put in extremely less work for it in comparison.
