WWE News: Dolph Ziggler dropping the Intercontinental title to The Miz was a last minute change
According to NODQ, the decision for Dolph Ziggler to drop his Intercontinental Championship to The Miz was a last minute adjustment made by the WWE. WWE Officials had no intentions for Ziggler to drop his title earlier.
Apparently, the bold decision had nothing to do with either Ziggler or The Miz but was more of a strategic decision to get Sami Zayn a huge pop from his home crowd of Canada. WWE wanted to take the traditional approach of a heel vs. face match and thus made this last minute modification.
While it was previously reported by the same source, that The Miz won the Elite Championship only for him to drop it to Zayn at Survivor Series, the bout culminated with The Miz coming out on top, with a little help of his better half, Maryse.
Maryse has been critical to The Miz's success in recent weeks, as the villainous antics of the dynamic duo has managed to keep Mr Hollywood, still relevant in the wrestling scene.
His win against Sami Zayn at Survivor Series came in a similar fashion, as Maryse rang the bell to trick Zayn into believing that he won the bout, giving The Miz enough time, to capture a win with a quick roll-up.
While the result shocked the WWE Universe, its outcome served two purposes; the first is that Zayn continues to look strong, despite the loss and the second being, that the IC title remained at the Blue Brand. It will also bring a lot of heat on The Miz, which is, perhaps, desirable from WWE’s perspective.
In the end, no one could argue with the genius of WWE creative team, as they laid down the match beautifully, without hurting the on-going momentum of two Superstars.
A win-win situation for everybody!
