What's the story?

Former WWE World Champion Dolph Ziggler recently sat down with Edge and Christian in their E&C podcast and hinted towards a potential exit from the WWE in the near future.

Ziggler discussed numerous topics such as him being underutilized in the WWE, losing his credibility to NXT call-ups, and also discussed the importance of the win-loss records in WWE.

In case you didn't know...

Dolph Ziggler is one of the most prolific, yet underutilized performers in the WWE roster today. The 37-year-old is a former World Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion, and also has held the WWE United States Championship in the past.

Ziggler was first signed by the WWE in 2004, under their developmental banner of Ohio Wrestling Valley (OVW) and over this past 13 years "The Showoff" has proved that he is one the hardest working performers to ever step foot inside the squared circle.

The heart of the matter

During his interview on the E&C podcast, Ziggler said that during the last eight months of his WWE career he has been playing the "gatekeeper" role for all the NXT superstars who have received a call-up to the main roster and according to him it is something that has taken back his role in the current scenario of the company.

"The Showoff" stated that wins and losses in the WWE don't really matter much unless you're the guy who has been losing constantly, on every single occasion [refeering to himself in the process]. Ziggler then added that if a superstar is bound to lose every single match on TV, then he is better off wrestling the dark match of the evening rather than wrestle and lose on live TV every week.

The former World Heavyweight Champion then added that he has a very short period of time to decide about his future and there are chances that he might exit WWE very soon or find a different role for himself within the company.

"It’s a show business thing where I love it and in a very short time, I will have to decide if I need to go away and do my own thing or if I need to find a different role here.” Dolph Ziggler stated.

What's next?

Despite being poorly booked over the past few months, Ziggler currently finds himself back into the US Title picture as he is all set to go head-to-head against Bobby Roode and current US Champion Baron Corbin at this year's Clash of the Champions pay-per-view. Ziggler would go on and look to capture the US Title for the second time in his career, on 17th December at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Author's Take

I think there is nothing much left for Dolph Ziggler to achieve in the WWE, the current scenario is not looking too promising for the former IC Champion. Ziggler is a huge talent and him walking away from WWE seems like the best option as of right now.
