WWE News: Dolph Ziggler talks about the possibility of leaving WWE
Dolph Ziggler being drafted to Smackdown Live this year has been a breath of fresh air for him. While fans always acknowledged his talent and athleticism, his monotonous booking for three years, is what made fans indifferent towards him.
However, his programs with Dean Ambrose and The Miz, on Smackdown Live, gave him the opportunity to use the mic more, and show a lot more personality.
In an interview with The Mirror, Ziggler spoke about his career, his career-threatening match with The Miz, and so much more. When asked about rumours as to whether he’d genuinely be leaving WWE or not, The Show Off said:
“I've been genuinely thinking that for about two years now. You know, whether your contract is up, paperwork wise, and whether it [is] timed with how this all worked out or not, WWE is a business, but [WWE chairman] Vince McMahon is still a human being and if I went to him and said I need to leave because I can’t be here anymore, because I can't go any higher on the card, I believe he would understand that and let me go.”
Ziggler said that he definitely could go and do other things. He has been studying stand-up comedy for 20 years and said that he had the fortune of being on shows, which he didn’t believe he deserved.
He said that in the last six months or so, he has also been able to go to Fox News and Fox Business and talk about politics, something he knows like the back of his hand, that he writes about daily, and about which has so many ideas.
However, despite all that, Ziggler said, “I am still prepared to be the best WWE Superstar I can be. If I cannot be the best or operate at the highest level, then I need to go away.”
Dolph Ziggler has had what many consider the best feud currently going on in WWE right now with The Miz. He defeated The Miz at No Mercy last month to become a five-time Intercontinental Champion. The big drawing factor of the match was that Ziggler put his career on the line, and many believed that he was genuinely going to be leaving WWE.
However, he now stands as the current Intercontinental Champion.
Ziggler had a title defence against Curt Hawkins in an “Open Challenge” in the latest episode of Smackdown Live. Here is the clip:
Ziggler is set to defend the Intercontinental Championship against any Raw member at Survivor Series. Many believe The Miz and also the Ziggler-Miz feud has upped the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship, something that many feel has not been done in years.
