WWE News: Donald Trump's charity received several big donations from Vince and Linda McMahon

Donal Trump was paid for his WWE appearance with donations to his charity

Donald Trump is most famous for being a businessman, the host of the television show ‘The Apprentice” and as a WWE Hall of Famer (even though whether he should still remain there or not is debatable). Trump is now running to be the President of the United States in the upcoming November elections and beat 15 other Republicans in the Republican Primaries earlier this year.

Trump is currently running against Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton and the race is neck and neck with Trump leading in certain swing states. Some have found Trump’s rise to political power ludicrous as his campaign is basically built on racism and xenophobia. Trump began his recent run for president by calling most Mexican immigrants “criminals and rapists” before later calling for a ban on all Muslim immigrants into the United States.

Vince McMahon and Donald Trump are old friends

Trump’s charity, The Trump Foundation, has also come under scrutiny recently after it was revealed that Donald Trump only put money into his charity till 2007, in small amounts, after which he stopped funding it completely. The charity then basically started asking for donations and then used that money to donate. Tax records show that two of these donors were Vince and Linda McMahon who gave big donations to Trump’s charity in 2007 and 2009.

2007 was the year when Donald Trump worked Wrestlemania during the Battle of the Billionaires and 2009 was the year when Trump appeared in an angle where he “bought” Raw. Trump’s appearances were most definitely paid off as gifts to his charity as confirmed by a Washington Post expose. Vince and Linda McMahon gave the Trump Foundation $5 million in between 2007 and 2009.

According to the Washington Post, The Trump Foundation received its single biggest donation from the McMahon’s in 2007 which amounted to $4 million.

Donald Trump is most famous in WWE for his appearance at Wrestlemania 23 in the Battle of the Billionaires against his old friend Vince McMahon. The battle culminated in a hair-vs-hair match at Wrestlemania 23 between Trump’s representative Lashley and Vince’s representative Umaga. Lashley ended up with the win and Trump, Lashley and Stone Cold shaved McMahon bald in the center of the ring.

Vince McMahon’s association with Donald Trump began in the 80’s when Trump Plaza was the primary sponsor of Wrestlemania 4 and 5. In fact, the venue of WM 4 and 5, the Atlantic City Convention Hall, was even referred to as Trump Plaza for the television audience.
