WWE News: Drew Gulak opens up about his working relationship with Enzo Amore
What’s the story?
WWE 205 Live star Drew Gulak recently spoke with ESPN about his work on the WWE Cruiserweight division and its success, and how it feels to work alongside Enzo Amore.
In case you didn’t know…
In November of 2017, Drew Gulak aligned himself with Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore and joined Amore’s heel faction “The Zo Train”. Since making his WWE debut in 2016 via the first ever Cruiserweight Classic Tournament, Drew Gulak has elevated himself as one of the more interesting characters on 205 Live. Gulak’s “no-fly zone” campaign has also been one of the most standout parts of his captivating character.
The heart of the matter
During Gulak’s conversation with ESPN, the 30-year-old spoke about his current run in the WWE and his experience in 205 Live so far. Here are a few highlights from the interview:
Gulak claims that his experience in WWE 205 Live has been surreal so far because of him being able to revisit some of the old creative stuff that he had previously experimented with, at various points of his career. Gulak also believes that he now holds a whole new set of resources which has been helping him to grow and try out various sorts of new things under the WWE banner.
When asked about Enzo Amore, the former CZW World Champion had some high praises for the current Cruiserweight Champion. Gulak started off by labeling Enzo Amore as a “bomb” and claimed that one can’t help but react to Enzo’s crazy personality.
"If you could picture a nice lake, clean water, real clear, some fish in there. There's seaweed, kelp, maybe even some coral. Then picture taking a bomb and dropping it into the middle of that and setting it off. That's kinda what it's like with Enzo.”
Additionally, Drew also said that ‘The Certified G’ is like a neon version of Neville, Austin Aries, and Kalisto.
What’s next?
Drew Gulak recently had the chance to become the #1 Contender to Enzo Amore’s Cruiserweight Title but fell short after a recent losing effort to Cedric Alexander. However, Drew Gulak has been on the rise on 205 Live and there is no doubt that he will eventually earn his moment on the Cruiserweight Division in the near future.
Author’s take
Personally, I think Drew Gulak’s gimmick is not only one of the best parts about 205 Live, but one of the best overall gimmicks in the WWE today. Gulak certainly deserves to hold the Cruiserweight Championship at some point in his career.
