What’s the story?

Drew McIntyre recently took to social media to comment on his comeback status.

McIntyre reported to the WWE Performance Center earlier this week and asserted his excitement at the prospect of his in-ring return.

In case you didn’t know…

Drew McIntyre performed for the WWE from 2007-14 and was initially promoted by WWE boss Vince McMahon as "The Chosen One".

While McMahon and the WWE management were very keen on McIntyre being the next big thing in the WWE, his character didn’t seem to click with the fans at the time, following which he was subsequently relegated to the role of an enhancement talent.

The heart of the matter

McIntyre parted ways with the WWE in 2014 and went on to achieve tremendous success on the independent professional wrestling circuit.

McIntyre returned to WWE’s NXT brand last year and held the NXT Championship until dropping it to Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas in late-November, following which he’s been on the shelf owing to a bicep injury.

Now back at the WWE Performance Center, McIntyre explained that he’s been a wrestler over half of his life and spent a considerable amount of time in the US — moving from one address to another. However, if there’s one place he’s always called home it’s indeed the squared circle.

What’s next?

Per general medical guidelines, a severe case of torn bicep normally requires the athlete to rest and rehabilitate the injury for about 4-6 months before resuming sporting competition.

Nevertheless, Drew McIntyre is said to be recovering much quicker than expected and could make his in-ring return over the next few weeks.

Author’s take

Drew McIntyre is an exceptional talent and has really come into his own over the past few years.

Let's hope that McIntyre recovers at the earliest and goes back to performing at the highest level.
