WWE News: Drew McIntyre hits the gym; prepares for his NXT return
What's the story?
Earlier this week, Hard Nocks South gym posted a video on their official Twitter handle that showcased former WWE NXT Champion Drew McIntyre working out in the gym and preparing for his WWE return.
In case you didn't know...
During the last Takeover: WarGames, McIntyre went toe-to-toe with Andrade Cien Almas, with the NXT Championship on the line. However, during his match against Almas, McIntyre went on to tear his bicep and would eventually go on to lose his NXT Championship as well, to the former Los Ingobernables member. This was also McIntyre's first loss in NXT since debuting for the promotion on 12th April 2017.
It has been reported that following the devastating injury suffered by McIntyre in Houston last month, the 32-year-old is bound to be sidelined for a while and will miss several months of NXT TV.
The heart of the matter
Despite having undergone a surgery several weeks ago, former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre has already decided to step back into the gym as he starts preparing for a potential return to WWE NXT.
Earlier this week, John Cena's gym Hard Nocks South shared a clip in which McIntyre was seen doing squats, with a barbell on his shoulders and with a large caste attached to his left arm.
The caption of the tweet read:
“First workout after surgery. Some people wait to heal. Others heal themselves."
This clearly indicated towards the fact that "The Sinister Scotsman" is completely determined to make his in-ring return as soon as possible and possibly get in line for a rematch for the NXT Championship, which he lost to Almas last month.
What's next?
Several reports over these past few weeks have claimed that Drew McIntyre could be back making his return to WWE NXT during Wrestlemania 34 week.
There is also a slight possibility that the WWE Universe might be able to get a closer look at McIntyre as he might also be present at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans for NXT Takeover: New Orleans, on 7th April 2018.
Author's Take
The fact that Drew McIntyre is already back in the gym, preparing for his return is truly unbelievable. I hope that the Scotsman heals from his injury, as soon as possible and makes his grand return to WWE NXT in 2018.
