WWE News: Drew McIntyre's reaction to Triple H allowing him to appear in-person for his ICW Hall of Fame induction
What's the story?
On 1 February it was announced that Drew McIntyre would be inducted into the 2018 Hall of Fame class for Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW). McIntyre had an interview with Mirror in the United Kingdom regarding the induction where Drew discusses his reaction to Triple H allowing him to appear in person.
In case you didn't know...
ICW is based in Glasgow, Scotland. The promotion was founded by Mark Dallas in 2006. Some notable names who have wrestled for ICW include Big Damo (Killian Dain), Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio, War Machine, and Tommy End (Aleister Black).
The heart of the matter
As the inaugural and two-time ICW Heavyweight Champion, McIntyre will be in person for ICW's event at the 02 ABC in Glasgow on 12 February (Monday) to accept the honor. Drew joins former ICW Women's Champion Carmel Jacob as the only inductees.
Take a look at Drew's reaction to the announcement from 1 February below:
During his interview with Mirror, McIntyre said he mentioned this to Triple H as soon as Dallas had sent him the message to tell him he was going into the Hall of Fame. Triple H would tell Drew, "you should go and be there in person!" The reason being, Triple H believes in the promotion a lot and was extremely happy for Drew.
Drew would then tell Mirror his reaction to Triple H's suggestion of appearing in person:
"To go there and be in person, when initially it was just going to be done on the show as a little tribute without me there, really does mean the world. I'm going to be going home, in my home company and with all my friends on the show and in the crowd, with my family there. You can't buy that kind of stuff."
What's next?
ICW's Fight Club show where Drew is being inducted into the Hall of Fame is going on as this article is being written. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for further information coming out of tonight's event.
Author's take
This is just another example of Triple H knowing what's truly "best for business" (to borrow a pun that he used as The Authority). He realized how much this meant to Drew and to allow him to accept this honor in person was a truly great gesture.
It's just one of many great partnerships the WWE has had with ICW as of late, including allowing the WWE United Kingdom Championship be defended on their brand.
