NXT News: Ember Moon not advertised for NXT Takeover: Chicago following shoulder injury
What’s the story?
Wrestlingnews.co have reported that NXT Superstar Ember Moon is unlikely to compete at NXT Takeover: Chicago due to an injury she suffered in the No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal on the May 3rd episode of NXT.
She was spotted in pictures in the Performance Center wearing a sling. Xavier Woods even posted a photo where she was shown wearing a sling.
In case you didn’t know...
Moon fought Asuka at NXT Takeover: Orlando but would come up short following a referee bump that prevented her from using the Eclipse, her finishing move.
A No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal was put together by William Regal to determine the new challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship, but Asuka attacked Ruby Riot, Nikki Cross, and Ember Moon before the match concluded. As a result, Regal made the NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT Takeover: Chicago a Fatal 4-Way.
The heart of the matter
Moon’s injury occurred when Asuka threw her out of the ring through the ropes and she slammed her arm against the barricade.

Nothing official has been issued by WWE about the rumoured injury, but if her injury is severe enough, the match at NXT Takeover: Chicago may be changed to a triple threat match involving Asuka, Riot, and Cross.
A user on Reddit’s Squared Circle posted a photo of the screen from the NXT Live Event in Phoenix, AZ showing the Women’s Championship match as a triple threat instead
What’s next?
Keep up with WWE’s social media to hear any updates regarding the status of Moon in the NXT Women’s Championship match. Also, there is a chance that the WWE will wait until the next NXT taping to reveal Moon’s injury and remove her from the match if it’s necessary.
Author’s Take
Moon seemed to be the woman that would eventually beat Asuka for her championship, so hopefully, this doesn’t deter any long term plans. The planned match was a fatal 4-way, which may have been done to save some time heading into NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III.
If her injury isn’t too severe, then hopefully she can compete in her upcoming match. If not, then it’s unfortunate that one of NXT’s top talents will be out of action.
