He's Back...and Better than Ever
He's Back...and Better than Ever

What’s the Story?

Former Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff made his return to WWE on the pre-show for the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw.

In case you didn’t know...

Bischoff made his name on WCW and worked as both an on-screen authority figure, Executive Producer, and the President of the now-defunct company. After Bischoff left and WCW was sold to Vince McMahon, the former WCW executive would return to the wrestling world and serve as the Raw General Manager for the first four years of the Brand Split.

The heart of the matter

Bischoff joined Renee Young, Peter Rosenburg, and David Otunga on the pre-show panel and discussed his history with Vince and his time as both the WCW President and the former General Manager of Monday Night Raw.

The commentators brought up several moments from Bischoff’s past with both companies including his tactics to undercut Raw during the Monday Night Wars, how it felt to watch the end of WCW and end up working for the opposition, and his role in the early years of the Brand Split.

Bischoff also mentioned that he saw The Undertaker backstage and said hello to the Deadman before joining the commentators.

Bischoff served as the Raw General Manager for four years and had a myriad of memorable moments with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Stephanie McMahon and many more.

Bischoff’s return tonight marks his first time on Monday Night Raw since the 15th Anniversary of the show back in 2007. The former General Manager was last seen on WWE programming when he inducted Diamond Dallas Page into the WWE Hall of Fame last year.

Author’s Take

Bischoff may have begun his career in professional wrestling with WCW, but he was also an integral part of WWE’s development during the Brand Split and helped make Monday Night Raw a fun show with his authority figure antics.
