What’s the story?

Former WCW President Eric Bischoff recently sat down for an exclusive interview on the Pancakes and Powerslams show to discuss why the New World Order became crowded faction and revealed the original reason why the NWO Wolfpac was formed.

In case you didn’t know…

After having an internal conflict with NWO Hollywood leader Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash decided to detach himself from the NWO and went on to form the Wolfpac. The NWO Wolfpac made their debut during an episode of WCW Nitro back in 1998 as Nash along with Randy Savage and Konnan appeared sporting black shirts with a red NWO logo on it.

Much like NWO Hollywood, the Wolfpac also consisted of several top superstars from the WCW roster as the likes of Lex Luger, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Miss Elizabeth and NWO’s biggest rival Sting who also joined forces with Kevin Nash as part of the red and black faction.

The heart of the matter

During Bischoff’s interview with Pancakes and Powerslams, the former WCW President said that the reason why the New World Order was expanded is due to WCW launching a second primetime series on the TBS network. According to Bischoff, this was also the reason why WCW had decided to bring in Bret Hart at that point in time.

Furthermore, Bischoff also stated that the reason why the Wolfpac was formed is due to WCW not being able to capitalize on the talent they had a three-hour show. Bischoff also claimed that his main goal was to create two separate brands for WCW and have the New World Order take over Nitro on TNT and have WCW live on Thunder.

"My goal was to create two separate brands. And the intent, although it was never realized and executed fully, the intent was for nWo to take over TNT and have WCW live on SmackDown [Thunder].

And, by doing that, I would have been able to create my own war, so to speak, and my own rivalry between Nitro and Thunder, similar in many ways to what WWE has been attempting to do, rather unsuccessfully from my perspective, but attempting to do with Raw and SmackDown." Eric Bischoff stated.

What’s next?

Eric Bischoff was recently a guest on Monday Night Raw’s 25th Anniversary show last night in New York. Other than that, Eric Bischoff is currently enjoying his life as an entrepreneur and professional wrestling booker.

Author’s Take

Eric Bischoff’s initial plans sound like a very solid idea to me and I believe Bischoff could’ve easily executed his plan successfully with some help from Ted Turner and WCW could have also won the Monday Night War against WWE.
