What’s the story?

In a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, former WCW President Eric Bischoff spoke about a rather controversial topic to say the least, as he opened up about challenging WWE Chairman Vince McMahon to a fight.

In case you didn’t know…

Regarded as one of the most iconic, yet controversial characters in Pro Wrestling history, former WCW President and NWO’s on-screen manager Eric Bischoff has had his fair share of ups and downs in the wrestling business. During the attitude era, Bischoff had a major impact on the wrestling business especially, as he along with the New World Order helped WCW to become the top wrestling promotion in the world, taking over the WWE in the process.

However, by the year 1999, WCW’s ratings started to drop as the company began experiencing an endless streak of rating losses. By late 1999, WCW started losing five million dollars a month and the PPV buys and ratings went down by a significant margin and by the month of September, Eric Bischoff was let go of his powers.

The heart of the matter

Eric Bischoff stated that while challenging Vince McMahon to a fight in real life he wasn’t too familiar with who McMahon was as he had never encountered with the WWE Chairman before, in real life. According to Bischoff, McMahon was just another big guy who lifted weights as the former WCW President claimed that he wasn’t too intimidated by the WWE Chairman.

Additionally, Bischoff also stated that he previously had some experience in wrestling from his high school days, and the 62-year-old also claimed that he had trained Kick Boxing and MMA while growing up in the city of Detroit, Michigan.

“The idea of getting into a fight, win or lose, didn't intimidate me. My approach to it was, 'I got enough skill sets. I'm not going to get knocked out in the first 30 seconds. I thought win-lose or draw if he comes out and beats my ass, it would be great TV.”

Furthermore, Bischoff also shared a hilarious story as he said that his good buddy Hulk Hogan had warned him not to get into the ring with Vince McMahon because The Hulkster knew that Bischoff would get his butt kicked by Vince McMahon.

What’s next?

Eric Bischoff’s next WWE appearance is scheduled for tomorrow’s Raw 25th Anniversary special, as the former GM of the red brand gets all set to return to the WWE.

Author’s Take

In my opinion, a fight between Bischoff and Vince McMahon would’ve been one for the ages. However, I believe that McMahon would’ve eventually prevailed in the fight between the two men.
