WWE News: Eva Marie says that top WWE Superstars have told her they would pay to get the kind of heat she does
In an interview with International Business Times, Eva Marie spoke about the heat she receives, particularly from the NXT audience at events. She mentioned that top guys have told her, that they would pay for the kind of heat she gets:
“The NXT crowd is no joke. Not only going out to those live crowds and those live audiences to work at those live events, not only my in-ring ability, but also to listen to the crowd and really play off of that emotion and their feelings and be able to give them a great show really helped me take it to the next level. It was a fantastic experience. Who can say that they get booed out of arenas on a daily basis? I embrace it with open arms. Even top guys come up to me and they’re like, ‘You don’t understand. We would pay for that heat.’”
Eva Marie is known to get a vocally negative response, especially from the Full Sail University crowd (where NXT is taped). There have been occasions, where the crowd jeers even obstructed the flow of the segments she was in. An example from last year can be seen below:
In NXT, they capitalised on the heat she brought into the storyline with Bayley. The story was portrayed in a manner that made fans legitimately believe that Eva Marie would end up taking the NXT Women’s Championship off Bayley, which made Bayley’s victory over All Red Everything, even sweeter for the fans in attendance and watching around the world.
They even paired her up with Nia Jax on NXT in order to get the heat to rub off on her as well.
Another example of her heat being utilised was in January when there was a number one contender battle royal, for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Eva Marie eliminated fan-favourite Asuka and got immense heat for those few seconds until Carmella (who was then a babyface) eliminated the unanimously despised Eva Marie. You can see how it played out below
WWE tried something different on SmackDown Live when they put her in a storyline, where she found various methods and excuses to avoid wrestling any matches. The storyline garnered quite some acclaim among fans because of its humour. It was cut short when she got suspended before Summerslam.
Since then, she has been filming two movies, with one film already completed. She is expected to return to WWE in a matter of time.
