WWE News: Ex-WWE Writer Brian Mann says Finn Balor would have replaced Seth Rollins at WWE WrestleMania 33
What's the story?
Ex-WWE Writer Brian Mann joined us on The Dirty Sheets on our "Wrestling Therapy" show to discuss and dissect this year's WrestleMania card. One of the things unveiled during the discussion was who was lined up to replace Seth Rollins, had he not recovered from his injury in time for WrestleMania.
In case you didn't know...
Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury on the January 30th episode of Raw, during an angle with Samoa Joe, where Joe jumped Rollins and aligned himself with Triple H. The angle was Samoa Joe’s Raw debut.
The injury was believed to be a torn MCL, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Rollins was evaluated by doctors in Birmingham, Alabama. The early word was that he would be out of action for around eight weeks. However, Rollins has undergone intense rehab and has managed to get back ahead of schedule.
The heart of the matter
Over the course of the discussion, there were many highlights. However, the revelation that Finn Balor was lined up to be Seth Rollins’ replacement to face Triple H at WrestleMania, was possibly the headline comment from the 90-minute conversation.

What's next?
Seth Rollins will face Triple H at WrestleMania 33 on Sunday 2nd April in Orlando, FL. As things stand, Finn Balor will not feature on the WrestleMania card, despite already returning to WWE house shows. Balor is likely to return on the Raw after WrestleMania.
Author's take
It would have been interesting to see what storyline reasoning the WWE would have come up with, had they needed to replace Rollins with Finn Balor. However, Rollins has successfully gone through his rehab and will now face Triple H at WrestleMania.
The injury has actually added an extra element to the match.
Not only have the WWE been able to use the injury on television to enhance the storyline of the match, but it should also aid the match itself. Although we may lose out on a 100% Seth Rollins, what we will get is a hot issue going into the match and every time Triple H attacks his leg, fans won't need to suspend their disbelief too much to get into the contest.
Wrestling is at it's best when it appears to be real, and fans should be engrossed come April 2nd. Rollins and Triple H have the potential to steal the show.
