WWE News: Fans applaud The Big Show following Monday Night Raw

Show is a legend of this business

What's the story?

Following his main event match against Braun Strowman, WWE legend The Big Show was applauded to the back by the fans in Columbus, Ohio. The two men had just battled to a draw following a suplex that saw the ring implode for only the third notable time in WWE history.

In case you didn't know...

Over the last twelve months, Big Show has put in an incredible amount of effort when it comes to improving his own personal image. With a potential match against Shaq at WrestleMania 33 being the primary motivation, the former WWE Champion got himself into the best shape of his career which has also helped to improve his in-ring abilities.

The heart of the matter

In the following clip, Show is being helped to his feet by trainers and doctors around ringside. Following a brief struggle, the big man gets back to his feet as the fans begin to chant "Thank you Big Show" in a surprising act of kindness. Show recognises the fans and appears to be on the verge of tears before slowly walking back up the ramp and through the curtain.

What's next?

Rumours have been floating around the WWE Universe regarding Big Show's impending retirement for a while now, with the man himself stating on the Stone Cold Podcast that he had two years left in the business. That comment was made a while ago now, and it appears as if Show will finally call it a day just a few weeks prior to WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

Author's take

Big Show has experienced some pretty diabolical booking over the years, which has dampened his legacy slightly when it comes to including him in the "best big men of all time" discussion. Despite this, it'd be great to see WWE put him in a more advanced storyline one last time before he calls it a day.
