WWE News: Favourites to win at SummerSlam revealed?

This is the 29th edition of WWE SummerSlam

WWE's biggest event of the summer, SummerSlam, will emanate live from Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday. Being the company's second-biggest pay-per-view, this year's event comes one month after the draft that split the company between Raw and SmackDown brands. This year's WWE SummerSlam will have quite a few matches that we weren't expecting and a couple matches that we're glad we're getting.

The 2016 edition of SummerSlam will crown the first ever WWE Universal Champion! Will it be Finn Balor or will Seth Rollins crash yet another party? Early rumours predict Finn Balor and we couldn’t be happier if that happened. Also, we are getting Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler for the WWE World Championship. This match was not expected. Will Ziggler finally be able to break the glass ceiling once again and emerge as the champion?

There is also a possibility that Bray Wyatt may be involved in affecting the decision of this match somehow. Another match that has fans split right down the middle, is “Big match John” going up against the “Phenomenal One”. AJ went one up in the feud with his tainted victory over John Cena at Money in the Bank. John settled the score with a tag team win over the club while teaming up with Enzo and Cass.

This is the decider and with Cena putting Styles through the announcer’s table last Tuesday night on SmackDown, one could assume that Styles might pick up the victory at SummerSlam. Brock Lesnar will also be taking on Randy Orton in a match dubbed as “15 years in the making”. It’s a battle between legends, and while they aren’t new to the rosters, the matchup and its meaning are both new and overdue.

Sasha will be taking on Charlotte in a re-match of their RAW encounter that stole the show. But this time, Dana Brooke is banned from ringside. It is expected that Sasha will retain with no Dana to disrupt the match. The New Day will look to defend against the Club, but this time without the support of Big E. For the first time in the last 6 months, it looks like the New Day might just drop the titles after enjoying a dream run for the good part of a year. Enzo and Cass will take on the unlikely tag team of Kevin Owens and ChrisJericho. It's no surprise Enzo Amore & Big Cass are featured on this card.

The duo of Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens seem to have been successful to this point and picking up a win against them would push Enzo and Cass to a possible contendership for the tag titles in the near future. Does the build of the real tag team continue or does WWE give a win to the bigger solo names?

The current betting odds for Sunday’s event are as follows:

Sheamus (-140 favourite) vs Cesaro

Apollo Crews (-200 favourite) vs The Miz

Rusev (-300 favourite) vs Roman Reigns

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (-250 favourite) vs The New day
