What’s the story?

Former WWE Universal Champion, Finn Balor was recently a guest on Brian Campbell’s In This Corner podcast where he discussed a host of topics and also gave a brief on his recent on-going rivalry with Bray Wyatt.

Balor spoke about the supernatural elements that are being used in this feud by Wyatt, as well as the biggest challenge he’s faced in this feud till now.

In case you didn’t know…

The rivalry between Balor and Wyatt started way back in July when Wyatt cost Balor a match against Elias. In August, the two faced each other in one-on-one action for the first time, where Wyatt was victorious.

The two men then faced off in a match at this year’s SummerSlam but “The Eater of Worlds” had to square off against the "Demon King" persona of Balor, the former NXT Champion would go on to win the match.

Balor and Wyatt’s recent bout came at this year’s No Mercy PPV, Balor was not allowed to use his Demon persona but still managed to reign supreme over Wyatt once again.

The heart of the matter

Finn Balor recently spoke with Brian Campbell on his ‘In the Corner’ podcast, during the interview, Finn revealed that he likes the idea of Bray Wyatt using supernatural powers in this feud against him.

Balor said that so far he seems to like the idea of Wyatt being cryptic and introducing Sister Abigail to the feud. He thinks that the idea is fresh and he sees this as a challenge.

The former NXT Champion added by saying that he has been in various types of matches such as grappler vs striker, striker vs technician, high flyer vs mat technician and, many more, but claimed that this is the first time he has been in something like this.

Balor said that he was looking forward to adapting to this situation and looks forward to getting better by taking this rivalry against Wyatt and Abigail as a challenge for himself.

“You can only get better by challenging yourself. I don’t know how fans are reacting to it, I don’t know how critics are reacting to it, but for me, I’m welcoming the challenge and enjoying it,” Balor said.

Balor stated that the biggest challenge for him so far in this feud is to go in front of the live audience and talk on the mic. He said that this was the first time in a rivalry where he had to use the microphone so much, but also, on the other hand, admitted that he is someone who doesn’t like to talk much on the microphone.

“There’s a lot more talking involved and it’s something I know that as a performer I have to improve my talking skills. It’s a new challenge,” said the former NXT Superstar.

What’s next?

After facing off against each other in a series of matches, it seems like Balor and Wyatt will once again go into battle, most likely at the upcoming TLC pay-per-view.

Author’s take

Personally, I have enjoyed parts of this feud between Balor and Bray, but I believe it would have been more interesting if these two fought over a championship.

The two men are brilliant athletes overall, but their feud seems directionless and meaningless, and Bray dressing up as Abigail is just absurd to me.
