What's the story?

The WWE has announced a brand new show that will air exclusively on Facebook called the Mixed Match Challenge, which will feature Superstars from Raw and SmackDown LIVE competing in a single-elimination mixed tag-team tournament.

Many Superstars are set to compete in the exclusive tournament, but Finn Balor has revealed who he wants to team up with.

In case you didn't know...

Finn Balor and Bayley are certainly no strangers to teaming up as the pair of them have teamed up at house shows and on NXT. Balor even wore Bayley's get-up in a departure from his more darker demon look, whilst Bayley sported a 'Balor Club' t-shirt.

The unlikely pairing has even shared a big Bayley style hug in the middle of the ring to cement this particular team-up, as captured wonderfully by this GIF shared on Twitter.

The heart of the matter

The WWE is yet to announce who the official pairings will be for the WWE Mixed Match Challenge, but their promotional image teases the involvement of Asuka, Sasha Banks, Naomi, and Charlotte, as well as Sami Zayn, Braun Strowman, Shinsuke Nakamura and, of course, Balor.

However, you'd have to imagine that the team of Finn Balor and Bayley would have an excellent chance of winning the whole thing, especially as they have experience working together!

What's next?

Other pairings that are being teased on social media are 'The Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman and Nia Jax, as well as 'Ms.Money in the Bank' Carmella and Bobby Roode. But we'll find out once the show starts airing on Facebook on January 16th after SmackDown LIVE.

Author's take

I'm excited about this new tournament, especially because they're heading towards real intergender matches within the WWE again, with have been sorely missed. Also, I'm elated for the WWE trying out new platforms for their content with Facebook LIVE. We'll have to see what happens and if Finn Balor and Bayley do end up reforming 'Baylor'!
