WWE News: Finn Balor wants WrestleMania match against the Undertaker
SummerSlam is just a few hours away and the hype for the biggest event of the summer has just peaked after the NXT superstars stole the show at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. The 29th edition of SummerSlam is special for many reasons, one of them being the crowning of the first ever WWE Universal Champion.
While Seth Rollins and Finn Balor lace their boots for this exclusive event, the latter is also excited for his future in the company.
Balor appeared on Chris Jericho’s podcast, The Talk is Jericho and when Chris Jericho asked the former NXT Champ about a possible match with The Undertaker, Balor said, “Before the last WrestleMania, before The Undertaker’s match got announced, I kind of fantasy book myself in my head sometimes, and I go you know what, if they really wanted to make me a mystery opponent for The Undertaker, I’ll come out as The Demon, and even if I lose, I still win.”
Finn said that he has often dreamed about facing “The Deadman” on WWE’s grandest stage. WWE’s “Demon King” also said that, prior to his RAW debut, he thought to himself that there would be no better way to make an impact than to face and defeat Roman Reigns on his very first night on WWE’s big stage, and, of course, he ended up doing that. Because of that, he feels confident that his vision for a match with The Undertaker will come true as well.
There has been a rumor going around that “The Deadman” is going to make his return at SummerSlam, but there don’t seem to be too many facts to substantiate this rumor. Moreover, we haven’t heard any further details on what The Undertaker may be doing if he does return at the event.
During his chat with Jericho, Balor also mentioned that his parents are flying in from Ireland to attend the pay-per-view in Brooklyn, which could be taken as a hint that he’s winning the Universal Championship on Sunday. But, plans do change on a daily basis in WWE, so nothing is guaranteed.
Originally, Balor was supposed to work with Chris Jericho upon his WWE main roster debut, but, Vince McMahon decided to change that plan, and make Balor into a main eventer in just one night.
It is obvious that WWE creative and officials are high on Finn Balor and but will that lead to a Universal Championship reign? And will WWE go on to book him in a career defining match against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando? If the match were to happen next spring, it would definitely be an epic encounter.
