WWE News: First glimpse of new 7'3" NXT star manhandling opponents at live event
What's the story?
WWE has found its newest giant, as 7'3" Jordan Omogbehin made his in-ring debut at an NXT live event Thursday night in Lakeland, FL.
Omogbehin was flanked by Stokely Hathaway as his manager, and defeated Team 3.0 in Omogbehin's debut.
In case you didn't know...
Jordan Omogbehin is a former University of South Florida and Morgan State basketball player, and was born in Nigeria. He played high school basketball in Virginia, and played his final college basketball season in 2015.
The heart of the matter
At the WWE NXT live event this past Thursday night in Lakeland, Omogbehin faced Scott Park and Shane Matthews and soundly defeated the duo in a handicap match.
Omogbehin was managed in the match by the former Stokely Hathaway, who now goes by the name of Malcom Bivens in WWE and NXT. Bivens has been managing NXT talents since he debuted with the company back in March, and has recently added the former Division I basketball standout Jordan Omogbehin to his roster.
According to Sports Illustrated, Omogbehin was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and played college basketball for both USF and Morgan State. The big man was part of a sizable Performance Center recruiting class which included current NXT stars Mia Yim and Matt Riddle, and he has been in developmental since signing with WWE.
What's next?
It remains to be seen if and when Omogbehin will debut on NXT television, as his match against Scott Parker and Shane Matthews at the live event on Thursday night was a quick squash, preventing Omogbehin from showcasing much of his offensive arsenal.
Given Vince McMahon's love of big men in WWE, Omogbehin could become the next Braun Strowman in the company should he excel in NXT and eventually get called up to the main roster.
