WWE News: Former Smackdown Women's Champion announces her entry into the Royal Rumble match
What’s the story?
On the fallout of this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, former Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalya Neidhart announced her entry into the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, which is all set to take place next year.
In case you didn’t know…
On last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon made the historic announcement that WWE is all set to host the first ever 30-women over the top rope Royal Rumble match for next year.
The women’s Royal Rumble match will take place at the same time as the Royal Rumble pay-per-view at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia.
The heart of the matter
Former Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalya made her return to WWE TV during tonight’s final episode of Smackdown Live of 2017. On her return to Smackdown Live, Nattie along with her fellow members of the Welcoming Committee (Carmella, Lana, and Tamina) was involved in a brawl against the Riott Squad.
Following her return, Natalya stated in a backstage interview to Dasha Fuentes that she is blocking out all the negativity on the social media and claimed that 2018 is going to be her year, as she announced her entry into the women’s Royal Rumble match.
The 35-year-old additionally imitated her uncle Bret Hart and said that “she is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be”. Nattie would then make a very bold prediction by saying that she will be the last women standing come January 28 and will then go on to win the Women’s Champion at Wrestlemania 34.
What’s next?
Nattie’s main focus right now is definitely going to be the Royal Rumble match, however, the former Smackdown Women’s Champion should also be concerned about the Riott Squad.
The trio of Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan has put the entire Smackdown Women’s division on notice ever since their arrival and Natalya along with other female stars of the blue brand have been terrorized by the presence of the Riott Squad.
Author’s Take
Natalya is one of the most experienced veterans in the current WWE roster and she is someone who definitely adds a lot more value to the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match.
