WWE News: Former woman's champion praises Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane
What's the story?
Paige was the star in the woman's division during her prime, rising up the ranks of NXT and winning the title during her first main roster match. Whilst the former champ has unfortunately been off due to her injury and is expected to return to in-ring action soon, she has found time to meet and praise a future WWE Women's Champion in the making, Kairi Sane.
In case you didn't know...
Kairi Sane is one of the WWE's biggest prospects in the women's division having bested 15 other female superstars, including the brutal Shayna Bazler, in the Mae Young Classic tournament.
Kairi will now find herself in a title match on her 'NXT' debut against Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross, Ember Moon in a fatal four-way match for the vacated title and despite her competitors being fairly strong, many view her as a favourite going into the match as big fans of her work.
The heart of the matter
Someone else who is clearly a big fan of Kairi Sane is Paige, who posted a picture of herself with the Mae Young Classic winner at what looks to be the WWE performance centre.
Paige recounted how she met Kairi Sane at the airport in Japan when Kairi was an independent wrestler and noted how far the young wrestler has come from being a fan of a WWE wrestler like Paige to becoming one herself.
What's next?
You can see Sane in action at NXT TakeOver: WarGames when she attempts to emulate Paige's first match success and win the title on her debut. She'll have to get through Nikki Cross, Ember Moon and Peyton Royce to do so, but if she's successful it'll be quite the story!
Meanwhile, we're still awaiting news on Paige's in-ring return to the WWE, as many falsely speculated she'd be returning as 'Sister Abigail'. However, as we can see, Paige is busy at work at the performance centre gearing up for her in-ring return so I imagine it probably won't be too long!
Author's Take
I can't wait to see both of these talented female wrestlers in a WWE ring again, and hopefully, if all goes well they'll end up facing each other at some point in the future, which I think is a match we'd all like to see.
