What's the story?

WWE presented their 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw last week, which included them bringing back a number of familiar faces from the past few decades. Terri Runnels was one of the women who was brought back for a segment as part of the show but it seems that she was less than impressed by the experience.

In case you didn't know...

Terri Runnels was an integral part of WWE's Attitude Era when she was seen alongside her real-life husband Goldust and the couple definitely pushed the boundaries of what was deemed acceptable on national TV at the time.

Runnels herself was seen as more of a valet than an actual wrestler at a time when the women were seen as eye candy more than they were seen as legitimate wrestlers. Times have obviously changed since then and she was a shock addition to the show after a number of years away from the company and no mention of her on any of the shows over the past decade since her departure.

The heart of the matter

Terri Runnels appeared alongside the likes of Torrie Wilson, Jacqueline, Kelly Kelly and Trish Stratus on the stage as part of Raw 25 and was then the only star who isn't pregnant and appeared on the show the week before, but didn't have a place in The Women's Royal Rumble.

It seems that Terri wasn't impressed by the experience of returning to the company after a number of years out and revealed her thoughts on her recent podcast.

“To be honest, I was very disappointed, I really was. We were misused. I wanted for a brief moment some sincerity, and I didn’t like that it went straight to this cartoon crap. I felt like you’ve got a lot of talent and we are just standing there waving. We were misused, is the best way to say it, there is a better way for us to be used. It was disappointing because I loved my WWE/WWF family. It was a letdown.”

The women were only seen for a few minutes on the stage and weren't even given any time in the ring, so it is easy to understand why Terri would feel disappointed with her appearance.

"We all kind of dropped our jaws and were like 'you've got to be kidding me. I didn't hear anyone express anything different than what I just said to you."

What's next?

The Women's Evolution takes its next steps when the women on the Raw roster take part in the first ever Women's Elimination Chamber match next month as Alexa Bliss defends her Women's Championship.

Author's Take

It's not surprising that Terri thought that WWE were misusing a lot of their legends since there were a number of stars that were part of the show but they didn't get a lot of time on TV. The women were the ones who were probably treated the worst and many of the WWE Universe have been spoken out about this, so hopefully, the 30th Anniversary of Raw will be put together much better.
