What’s the story?

Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger told Sports Illustrated that his former tag team partner Cesaro is not only his favorite wrestler, but a man worthy of the WWE Championship.

In case you didn’t know...

Swagger was employed by WWE for 11 years and became Cesaro’s teammate from 2013 to 2014 as part of The Real Americans.

The Real Americans were managed by Zeb Colter and competed for the Tag Team Championships on several occasions, but it was their match at WrestleMania 30 that led to the team splitting up, and Cesaro leaving Colter for Paul Heyman the night after WrestleMania 30.

The heart of the matter

Swagger said that his favorite wrestler used to be WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, but that Cesaro has taken his place due to his impressive physical strength and his ability to adapt to any wrestling style.

“Cesaro should be world champ. I’m not afraid to say it, Cesaro is my favorite wrestler. It used to be Kurt Angle, but it’s now Antonio Cesaro. He’s the strongest guy there, he can go with anybody, and he is a guy that a company can invest in.”

Swagger also said that Cesaro is not the type of wrestler to get complacent and that his intellect, in-ring ability, strength and attitude are perfect for a world champion in WWE.

“He’s very hungry, and coming from the indies, he has a chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove. He uses that as fuel to keep getting better and not get complacent, and he would be the perfect guy to be world champ.”

What’s next?

Cesaro suffered an injury to his teeth at the No Mercy pay-per-view when he hit the turnbuckle and accidentally drove his front teeth into his upper jaw.

There’s no timetable regarding his return, but the assumption is that he’ll return to his team with Sheamus once he recovers.

Author’s take

Cesaro is a fantastic wrestler and seeing him become WWE Champion or Universal Champion would be a welcome change.
