WWE News : Former WWE Superstar Daniel Puder opens up about his controversial WWE stint
Former WWE Superstar and the winner of the fourth WWE Tough Enough Daniel Puder recently appeared on the Jordan Garber NOW podcast where he opened up about his controversial WWE Run. Puder also explained that he left the WWE after a year because of the nature of the deal he was offered.
Thanks to WrestlingInc, below are some of the highlights from the latest sighting of the WWE Veteran:
Talking about the former WWE trainer Bill Demott, who was one of the persons responsible for training Daniel during his Tough Enough days, the former WWE revealed an interesting incident involving him and his former coach. He said:
"One time he bent my finger backward when I didn't do a move right. DeMott held my finger back one day and I looked at him and I smiled and I said, 'are you going to break it or are you gonna show me how to do the move?' He never did it again and respected me for who I was. Very blessed to have him in my life. He's a hard ass and I got good because of it."
While speaking of the controversies surrounding his WWE run, where he was promised $1 Million Dollar as the reward to win the Tough Enough but was given a four-year contract worth $250,000 per year which was also allegedly breached by the company, the former WWE star said that he left after a year because he was offered a creepy deal:
"I won the contract, people talk about different amounts, I got [a] quarter million my first year. They gave me a crappy deal at the end of the first year. I looked at the situation about how they were treating me when I was busting my butt. If they are just going to offer not what the agreement was then I'm not going to stick around and be a part of it."
On the infamous Kurt Angle incident, where Angle reportedly challenged the Tough Enough finalists for a match in an unscripted segment during a SmackDown episode, the former ROH wrestler said that he got the better of Angle that day:
"I kicked his butt back a little bit and I showed him. I really pushed him, he didn't expect it coming like that and I just had a lot of fun with it."
It's notable here that Daniel Puder was the winner of the WWE Tough Enough in 2004 after which he was offered a WWE Contract. A $1 Million reward was first advertised for the winner, but instead, the company gave Puder a four-year contract worth $250,000 per annum which included the clause that they can release Puder after a year if they want..
After one year the officials offered Puder a development contract at Deep South Wrestling with less pay which Daniel declined and left the company afterwards. Since leaving WWE, he has worked for the companies like NJPW and ROH and has also tried his hand in MMA.
