What's the story?

The Greatest Royal Rumble is behind us and the event was indeed a very grand one. Most matches lived up to the hype, and it is safe to say that the event was a success.

Numerous Superstars returned to the WWE throughout the show, making for a nostalgic watch for the fans. We give you the full list of returns at the event.

In case you didn’t know…

While some of the returns such as Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho were announced beforehand, some returns took the fans completely by surprise.

Most of the returns were in the mammoth 50-man Royal Rumble match, eventually won by The Monster Among Men - Braun Strowman.

The heart of the matter

Here is the complete list of former Superstars who returned at the Greatest Royal Rumble, in order of appearance on TV:

Honourable mention: The legendary commentary duo of Jerry "The King" Lawler and Jim Ross returned on the Kickoff panel.

Chris Jericho - first returned in a hilarious backstage segment with his famous 'List of Jericho' and then at the Greatest Royal Rumble as the last entrant.

Shawn Daivari - former manager in WWE, returned alongside brother Ariya Daivari in a segment with the new recruits from the KSA tryouts.

Mark Henry - The World's Strongest Man and Hall of Famer came out of retirement for just one match; just as he was beginning to dominate the Rumble after entering at #5, he was eliminated by Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan.

Hornswoggle - A surprise entrant at #12, Hornswoggle returned to WWE for the first time since 2016; he was eliminated by Dolph Ziggler soon after.

Rey Mysterio - The Master of the 619 was the #28 entrant; this was his second return to WWE this year after he made a surprise entry at the Royal Rumble PPV back in January.

The Great Khali - Entrant #45, Khali was last seen when he showed up to help fellow Indian wrestler Jinder Mahal in the Punjabi Prison match against Randy Orton last year; he was eliminated by Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley together.

What's next?

Out of all the returning stars, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho are probably the only ones who might return to the WWE ring once again on a full-time or part-time contract.

Author's take

The Greatest Royal Rumble will go down in history as one of the most successful international shows the WWE has put on, and deservedly so.
