WWE News: Glenn 'Kane' Jacobs Addresses Allegations Of Steroid Abuse
What's the story?
WWE superstar and future mayor of Knox County, Tennesse, Glenn 'Kane' Jacobs has denied claims of using steroids in an interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel.
In case you didn't know
Jacobs debuted in WWF in 1995, as Isaac Yankem DDS, before re-debuting in 1997 as his most iconic character, the demonic Kane.
As Kane, he won several championships, including two world championships (in 1998 and 2010.)
The Devil's favorite demon also won the 2010 SmackDown Money In The Bank's ladder match.
In March 2017, Jacobs officially announced his candidacy for Knox County mayor, running for the Republican Party.
Jacobs won the Republican primary in May, by just 17 votes, and won the mayoral election in August, defeating Democratic candidate Linda Haney, with 66.39% of the vote.
The heart of the matter
Jacobs was accused by the founder of 'Protect Our Youth from Steroids' movement, Al Thompson.
In a letter to the Tennessee Attorney General and the Tennessee Bureau of Ethics and Finance, claiming that the future Knox County Mayor was connected to "WWE's rampant steroid use."
Responding in an interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel, Jacobs denied the claims:
“I do not condone steroid use or the use of any illicit drugs,” he said. “I think that’s very bad. I’m a bit of a health nut, and I just think it’s just really bad. No, I’d never do that.”
What's next?
Without any evidence proving steroid usage, this does seem like just another piece of libel against a WWE wrestler, who dares to make a career outside of entertainment.
Jacobs will be officially sworn in as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, tomorrow (September 1) where he will replace incumbent mayor Tim Burchett.
