What’s the story?

During a 2015 edition of the You’re Welcome! with Chael Sonnen Podcast, Sonnen engaged in a conversation regarding Goldberg with former WWE & WCW writer Vince Russo.

While Sonnen and Russo made a few negative comments about Goldberg on the podcast, a fan has now taken to social media so as to ask Goldberg how he’d respond to the discussion. That, in turn, has now resulted in both Goldberg and Sonnen engaging in online banter with one another.

In case you didn’t know…

Goldberg was one of, if not the, biggest stars of WCW, who later joined the WWE for a brief run in the promotion.

After Goldberg bid adieu to the world of professional wrestling following his WrestleMania XX with Brock Lesnar back in 2004, “The Myth” transitioned to the world of MMA as a color commentator & interviewer.

The heart of the matter

Goldberg served as a color commentator & interviewer not only for MMA promotions such as EliteXC, but also notable kickboxing organization K-1, however, the former WCW Champion then returned to WWE—competing from mid-2016 until April of last year.

A fan tweeted about Chael Sonnen and Vince Russo’s 2015 podcast conversation, asking Goldberg as to how he’d respond to Sonnen’s comments about him.

Sonnen got wind of the same, and stated—“Your first mistake was asking Goldberg to think. If I wanted his response, I’d have beaten it out of him.”

In response to which, Goldberg fired back—“Good luck with that punk”.

What’s next?

Chale Sonnen presently competes for Bellator MMA, and emerged victorious in the quarterfinals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix, defeating former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by way of Decision.

Sonnen will now face the winner of the upcoming fight between MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko and ex-UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.

Meanwhile, Goldberg announced last April that he’d be stepping away from in-ring competition, and is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next month.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, given Chael Sonnen’s love for pro-wrestling, and Goldberg’s professionalism, this online beef may be a work.

Perhaps Sonnen could come over to the WWE and “sports-entertain” the fans. Besides, if you happen to be unbeknownst of The American Gangster’s promo skills, you’d be missing out on something that truly is a gift to the entertainment world—
