WWE News: Goldberg returning to TV next week
What’s the story?
The headliner of the WWE Hall of Fame 2018, Bill Goldberg, will be returning to network television next week. However, as of this writing, it will not be for the 25th Anniversary of RAW.
As revealed by CosmicBooknews.com, Goldberg will be appearing on at least 2 episodes of The CW's The Flash.
In case you didn’t know…
Goldberg is not just showing up to play a random run of the mill character or a random background extra such as when he played 'Inmate' on Desperate Housewives. No, Goldberg will be playing a DC character, a lesser known one, but yes, a DC character nonetheless, known as 'Big Sir'.
The heart of the matter
Goldberg will be playing the character 'Big Sir'. The comic version of the character is shown to be a very big muscle bound man but also mentally handicapped, which causes the character to be both a friend and an enemy of The Flash. The Goldberg version is said to be a friend of the recently incarcerated Barry Allen and his 'back up' in prison.
While Goldberg very much enjoyed his return to WWE in 2016, ever since his days in WCW, he has had a big interest in acting. Goldberg has had roles in such films as Universal Soldier: The Return, where his role of 'Romeo' had originally been offered to Steve Austin, as well as appearing in Looney Tunes: Back in Action, The Longest Yard and of course WCW's Ready To Rumble.
Goldberg had noted on Twitter back in November that he would be a guest star on The Flash for his son.
What’s next?
Goldberg's first appearance on The Flash will be this Tuesday on January 23, 2018 in the episode titled "The Elongated Knight Rises". He is scheduled for at least one more episode, and should his character not meet his demise, we may see him again in future seasons.
Goldberg is currently not scheduled for Monday's 25 Anniversary of RAW but it is always possible he may put in a surprise appearance. If not, we will not see him on WWE TV again until the Hall of Fame ceremony during the WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans.
Author’s take
I'm happy to see Goldberg taking on more TV roles, especially a popular and exciting show like The Flash. Goldberg continues to show his strong ballad for Father of The Year.
