WWE News: Goldberg reveals how Brock Lesnar is in real life
What's the story?
WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg recently sat down with Sports Illustrated recently and talked about a host of things, one of them being how his long-time friend outside the ring and nemesis inside the ring - Brock Lesnar is in real life.
In case you didn’t know…
14 years ago, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar had a match at WrestleMania XX after which they were set to leave WWE. Due to fans getting to know about this beforehand, they vociferously rejected the match.
Fast forward 13 years and the two men went head to head again at WrestleMania 33. This time though, the match had a positive reception and was a hard fought one. Goldberg had returned to wrestling after a long hiatus and shockingly took some considerable bumps. This was the former WCW legend's last match.
The heart of the matter
While Lesnar and Goldberg may be portrayed as enemies on the screen, it turns out that they are close friends in real life. Goldberg himself has come out on many occasions to reveal that he has the utmost respect for Lesnar professionally as well as personally.
Once again in his recent interview, Goldberg credited the Beast Incarnate for his latest WWE run and said that it would not have happened if not for Lesnar. He went on to reveal that, though it might seem hard to believe, Lesnar was a very caring person in real life.
“I know it’s hard to believe this, but Brock is a caring person underneath all that big giant monster’s body. The relationship he has with his sons parallels my relationship with my son, and I think Brock may have understood what I was going through. Maybe he put himself in my position, saw a little bit of himself later in life in me, and saw how much this meant to me. For that, I can never repay Brock.”
What's next?
Goldberg is set to appear on a new TV series called "Forged in Fire" starting this Tuesday. Brock Lesnar will take on Roman Reigns inside a Steel Cage at the Greatest Royal Rumble, for the Universal Champion, which he incidentally won from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33.
Author's take
It is indeed hard to imagine Brock Lesnar as a family man and caring father after the avatar the WWE Universe is privy to, but that just goes to show how good he is at what he does - being The Beast Incarnate on-screen.
