WWE News: Goldberg to return to WWE action soon
The frequently rumored return of Bill Goldberg to the WWE ring could finally be coming to fruition.
According to WWE sources, Goldberg could be back in the fold “very soon,” with his first opponent being a name that many would expect. He is said to have had dinner with Brock Lesnar over the summer, as the two are actually on friendly terms.
That means verbal sparring that the two have engaged in recently could mostly just be to hype up their upcoming match, although no date is known for that encounter. Perhaps the plan could be to have Goldberg appear on WWE programming first to set up a match at WrestleMania, the way Sting did at Survivor Series in 2014 to lead up to his match against Triple H at WrestleMania 31.
A storyline involving Lesnar and Goldberg has been the topic of speculation for months, especially since Goldberg was announced as a character in the WWE 2K17 video in a commercial that included a strategically placed sign for “Suplex City.”
This would obviously not be the first time the two monsters have met in a WWE ring, as they infamously squared off in a match at WrestleMania 20 just before both men were set to leave the company. Many fans regard the bout as one of the worst flops in the event’s history.
