WWE News: Greatest Royal Rumble coming to WWE Network
What’s the story?
WWE will make history in April by hosting a third Royal Rumble match in Saudi Arabia, but it won’t just be fans in the Middle East who will enjoy the show.
WWE plans to broadcast the Greatest Royal Rumble event on the WWE Network.
In case you didn’t know...
The Greatest Royal Rumble will feature a 50-man Royal Rumble match and seven championship matches – including the Intercontinental Championship, Cruiserweight Championship, United States Championship, Raw Tag Team Championships, SmackDown Tag Team Championships, Universal Championship and the WWE Championship.
The heart of the matter
WWE hasn’t officially announced the show as a Network broadcast event, but it is advertised on the WWE Network webpage as a future show planned for April 27 – the same day the event is scheduled to take place.
WWE talked about the show during an episode of Monday Night Raw, but made no mention of whether it would come to the Network, aside from Roman Reigns talking about it in an interview.
In addition to the championship matches and the third Royal Rumble planned for the show, the WWE is rumored to be bringing in big names for the event including The Undertaker and Chris Jericho.
Daniel Bryan was cleared by doctors to resume his professional wrestling career, so he’ll likely be expected to compete on the show and may end up participating in the 50-man Royal Rumble.
What’s Next?
The Greatest Royal Rumble will emanate from the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and will take place on Friday, April 27.
WWE has announced matches for the show, but the participants in these matches won’t be revealed until after WrestleMania 33.
