WWE News: Broken Matt Hardy responds to WWE's recent tweet on a new poll

The #BrokenBrilliance possibly alludes to a WWE return.

What’s the Story?

WWE recently put up a poll quizzing the fans on the WrestleMania 25 Extreme Rules match between the Hardy Boys.

With all the recent rumours of contract negotiations between the Hardys and WWE, this tweet might be the biggest hint when it comes to their much-anticipated return. To add more fuel to the fire, Matt repiled to the WWE’s tweet:

In case you didn’t know....

The Broken Hardys have recently been on a “Quest of Gold”, capturing multiple indy titles across various promotions. They traveled to Ring of Honor most recently, where they took the ROH Tag Titles from the Young Bucks.

Over the past year or so, Matt and Jeff have had a sudden resurgence in popularity, thanks mostly to the Broken Brilliance of Matt Hardy. Since leaving TNA, they’ve been the hottest free agents on the market, and a story recently broke on the Hardys negotiating contracts with the WWE.

Possibly nearing the end of their respected careers, it seems like they would like to end it where it all began. PWInsider has confirmed that WWE has offered new contracts to the Hardys, and now it’s just a matter of when and not if the tag team legends return to WWE. Apart from the rumored scheduling issues, everything seems on course to a stunning comeback.

The heart of the matter

WWE put up a tweet asking the WWE Universe as to who won the Extreme Rules match between the two brothers at Wrestlemania 25. With a possible return looking like a certainty at this moment, it would make sense for WWE to start sharing trivia about the former tag champions.

With the tag divisions on Raw and Smackdown Live seeming a little lacklustre, bringing in the Broken Hardys seems like a no-brainer. Matt, in particular, has been able to gather quite a big following outside of the WWE – a rare feat in this business.

Usually your popularity declines as you go off to another promotion, but thanks to the Broken gimmick, Matt and Jeff are, possibly, as popular as ever. Matt responded to the latest WWE poll asking which of the Hardy Boys emerged victorious from their match, with Matt seeming quite delited at reliving the memory.

What’s next?

Oddly enough, the whole broken situation now depends on Impact Wrestling. They’ve been a pretty big thorn in the side of Matt and Jeff, with Impact lawyers interfering in ROH’s latest PPV. They believe the Broken gimmick is a part of Impact and are preventing the brothers from using it outside of their company.

However, it’s pretty obvious that WWE lawyers would be able to pick apart Impact pretty easily when it comes to this case. So joining forces with Vince helps everyone involved, theoretically. The closer they get to finalizing their negotiations, the more tweets such as these would come out, one would assume.

Reports also suggest that the Hardys could be making a return as soon as WrestleMania to face SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos.

Author’s take

In all honesty, this is fantastic news. I would love to see the Hardys finish up their historic careers in the WWE, maybe getting a Hall of Fame spot in the next few years. And to go in there with the Broken gimmick would be even better.

Matt was always in the shadow of his daredevil younger brother, but with this renewed character, Matt has, arguably, been more popular than his brother ever was. Both of the brothers have fought personal demons in the past, and it’s great to see how far they’ve come over the past few years.

The closer we get to their return, the more tweets we’ll get detailing their careers, and I, for one, can’t wait to see who Matt and Jeff DELETE should they sign with WWE.
