WWE News: Heel turn teased in backstage segment at Survivor Series
What's the story?
Following the victory of the Monday Night RAW Women's division over SmackDown, the WWE Universe was treated to a backstage segment featuring Stephanie McMahon and Daniel Bryan. The segment was highlighted by the possibility of a heel turn for none other than Daniel Bryan himself.
In case you didn't know...
Both General Managers have a lot riding at Survivor Series, with Stephanie McMahon stating that Kurt Angle could be out of a job if he fails to win. Daniel Bryan, on the other hand, has shown some signs of ensuing rift between himself and SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon.
The heart of the matter
The backstage segment began with Stephanie McMahon gloating over her team's two consecutive victories over their opponents in the opening moments of Survivor Series.
However, Daniel Bryan showed his faith in his SmackDown team, suggesting that victory was still a possibility.
Stephanie then brought up the topic of John Cena, suggesting that Daniel Bryan was showing signs of 'nepotism'. This prompted Daniel to mock Stephanie and he even fired a couple of shots at Triple H and the Authority.
However, the segment was highlighted by the possibility of a Daniel Bryan heel turn. This was made clear by Stephanie McMahon's attempts to manipulate Daniel into thinking that if Shane were to end up injured, it would leave Bryan with sole control over SmackDown Live.
The segment ended with Stephanie leaving the scene and Daniel Bryan left to contemplate Stephanie's advice.
What's next?
If the segment does have an impact on the Survivor Series card, then Daniel Bryan will be doing the unthinkable and will be turning heel. This could lead to a number of storylines between Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon.
It could also be a sign of a possible in-ring return for the Leader of the Yes Movement.
Author's take
If the backstage segment has even some sliver of truth to it, then the WWE Universe could be treated to something that they haven't seen in a long time, a Daniel Bryan heel turn. While there are many things that can be done with such a possibility, personally I would rather keep Bryan a face, because he does a great job as one.
