WWE News: Huge match set for No Mercy
It's been talked about for weeks as a possible headliner for WrestleMania 34. Now, it looks like we're going to get it early. Reported earlier today by PWInsider and confirmed by WWE.com, John Cena will be taking on Roman Reigns at No Mercy in September.
The seeds for the match were planted not too long ago, with the two former world champions attacking each other via Twitter. Then, last week on Raw, Cena returned to the program in order to confront Reigns, which appeared to be leading to a match right then and there.
That confrontation turned into a tag team match between Cena and Reigns against Samoa Joe and The Miz. Near the finish of the match, Reigns attempted to land a Superman Punch of Joe, only to find it connecting with Cena, instead.
Is this a desperate attempt to increase ratings for tonight's Raw? Or is this just the beginning of a long-running story that will take us all the way to WrestleMania? We're certain to find out more on tonight's episode of Raw, which takes place in Memphis, TN.
Also announced for No Mercy is a WWE Universal Title match between champion Brock Lesnar defending against Braun Strowman.
