Enter captio
Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin will face off against The New Day

What’s the story?

As per Daniel Bryan on Twitter, a huge match has been scheduled for tomorrow’s SmackDown Live.

The match will determine the number one contenders to the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

In case you didn’t know...

While The New Day are no strangers to the Tag Team Championships, Benjamin and Gable have been so close yet so far, when it comes to claiming the gold.

In their most recent effort, Benjamin and Gable were beaten twice in quick succession in a two-out-of-three falls match at the Royal Rumble.

Both The New Day and Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable were in the ring last week on SmackDown Live where we saw an intense debate around waffles and pancakes.

The New Day then went on to pick up a win over Gable and Benjamin.

You can see what went down in the video below.

The heart of the matter

SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan took to Twitter to confirm the huge match for SmackDown Live, during RAW’s Gauntlet Match.

Bryan took to social media to confirm the match would determine the number one contenders for The Usos’s Tag Team Championships at WWE Fastlane.

What’s next?

The match takes place tomorrow night on SmackDown Live between Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable, and two members of The New Day.

The winners will face WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos at Fastlane in the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio on March 11th for the first time ever.

Author’s take

Well, SmackDown has been pretty lacklustre recently in my opinion, but it seemed like we were certain to be heading for The Bludgeon Brothers vs The Usos, with the teams briefly interacting over the past two weeks. I guess that match may be pencilled in for WrestleMania. The question is, though, will The Usos retain the Championships? They've seemingly turned face and, with the interactions, it does make sense for them to retain. But you never know with WWE.

There’s no doubt The New Day vs Benjamin and Gable will be a great match, though. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes!
