What’s the story?

During a visit to the Philadelphia Phillies this past Friday, Hulk Hogan revealed baseball to be his first love.

Speaking to USA Today, Hogan recalled his baseball career in his younger years, besides also explaining what led to him transitioning to professional wrestling.

In case you didn’t know…

Hulk Hogan is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestling performers/sports-entertainers of all time.

Hogan competed in several notable promotions over the course of his long and storied career including WWE, WCW, TNA (Impact Wrestling), and NJPW to name a few.

The heart of the matter

Hulk Hogan was a longtime professional wrestling fan before getting his start in the industry.

Hogan revealed that he planned on becoming a pro baseball player before an injury forced him to reconsider his career options. “The Hulkster” stated—

"I played full-time baseball until my final year of high school; I pitched and played third base…I broke my arm playing third base. It was the best thing that ever happened to me because I segued into wrestling—I was a huge wrestling fan, too. Once my arm wasn't what it was, I was chasing the wrestling dream around and it finally happened but baseball was the first love."

What’s next?

Hulk Hogan has time and time again reiterated that he’s indeed open to making a comeback to the WWE.

Nevertheless, the WWE assert that they remain committed to their decision of not rehiring Hogan, owing to the latter mouthing racist profanities—with his aforementioned act being caught on tape.

Author’s take

Hulk Hogan is a legend, and his injury, subsequent transition from baseball to professional wrestling, and success story truly are inspiring.

Much like Hogan himself preaches, when God closes one door, he opens another. Hogan made the most out of his time in pro-wrestling, and irrespective of his alleged racism, several fans and experts have lately been clamoring for him to make a comeback to the business.
