What’s the story?

The identity of the enhancement talent who faced Nia Jax on this week’s edition of RAW has now been revealed.

The performer, who is said to be Shayla Hyde, has now taken to social media so as to address her WWE match against Jax.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE often utilizes enhancement talent in the form of a local performer, so as to make the WWE Superstar in the matchup appear strong.

The enhancement talent usually is a local professional wrestler who signs up for a one-off appearance in the WWE—with said appearance usually being a squash match that sees the WWE Superstar dominate the local talent.

The heart of the matter

“The Wicked Witch” Shayla Hyde wrestled under the ring name Joan King on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

Hyde has been competing in the sport of professional wrestling since 2012 and has been honing her skills on the independent professional wrestling circuit. The 23-year-old performer has time and again reiterated her goal of someday making it to the WWE.

With this week’s RAW taking place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, Hyde—who competes on the indie circuit in Detroit—took on Nia Jax, in a match that saw Jax dominate her foe and defeat Hyde in a one-sided showing. Despite coming up short in her WWE match, Hyde has taken to social media posting a rather intriguing video message with the following caption—

“Todays been so eventful. Filled with amazing possibilities and amazing experience.#blessed #JoanKing”

What’s next?

Shyla Hyde won the Powerbomb Wrestling Women’s Championship last year and has been making waves in the indies ever since.

Hyde has strongly asserted her desire to compete in the WWE, however, is expected to continue wrestling on the indie circuit…for now.

Author’s take

Shayla Hyde did an excellent job, selling her opponent’s moves and making Nia Jax look every bit the destroyer WWE hype her up to be.

Here’s hoping this talented young woman gradually acquires a spot on the WWE roster.
