WWE News: Incredible title match after SmackDown went off the air
What's the story?
Last night's episode of WWE SmackDown featured a number of highlights including Kevin Owens' return to WWE after which he was named as Daniel Bryan's challenger at WrestleMania. We also saw Matty Hardy return as the Hardy Boyz reunited.
However, fans in attendance also got to see an incredible title match after SmackDown went off the air, a rematch from WrestleMania.
In case you didn't know...
WrestleMania 34 saw the winner of the first ever women's Royal Rumble, Asuka, challenge Charlotte for the SmackDown Women's Championship. The match saw Charlotte beat Asuka to retain the title as well as end Asuka's unbeaten streak in the WWE.
Asuka finally won the SmackDown Women's Championship at WWE TLC in December in a triple threat TLC match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, after Ronda Rousey pushed Charlotte and Becky Lynch off the ladder.
The heart of the matter
Asuka defended the SmackDown Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair in the dark match after SmackDown Live went off the air in a rematch from WrestleMania 34. Fans in attendance said that the match was the best match of the night. The match ended after Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock and forced Charlotte to tap out.
Asuka reportedly had a segment planned with Mandy Rose for SmackDown but that segment was canceled.
What's next?
The last PPV before WrestleMania 35 is Fastlane. WWE recently announced that Asuka will be defending her title at Fastlane against Mandy Rose. At this point, we don't know what is planned for Charlotte Flair at Fastlane. However, Charlotte did announce last night that she will be going to RAW next week.
As for WrestleMania, it is expected that we will see a triple threat match for the RAW Women's Championship between Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey and 'The Man' Becky Lynch'.
