WWE News: Indie wrestling shows to air on WWE Network
As per the reports of WrestlingInc, WWE might feature indie wrestling content on the WWE Network. The reports of Fan Council survey, suggests that there is an ever rising interest developing in the indie circuit and promotions, such as Ring of Honor, EVOLVE, CZW amongst others are garnering a huge audience from around the world.
According to Wrestling Pundit, Dave Meltzer, of Wrestling Observer Radio, it now looks like the indies are soon coming to the WWE Network, as WWE CEO, Vince McMahon has decided that he want a few 'hot indies' showcased on the company's network.
Earlier this fall, WWE issued a report that comprised of potential price points of $4.99, $9.99 and $14.99, for the Indies shows. The promotions that were enlisted in the reports included Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and Ring of Honor (ROH).
Furthermore, WWE conducted another survey, this fall, to ask fans which promotions they were watching. The options included were - CHIKARA, PWG, EVOLVE, DGUSA, OVW, AAW, CZW, Shimmer, SCW, FIP and ROH.
As of now, there is no word on when we might finally get to see indies on the WWE Network. The list of promotions that will appear on the Network is also under contention.
However, Meltzer has noted that the next few months will change the landscape of the business. He also speculated that WWE might form an alliance with other promotions, similar to what they did with WWN Live over the past year.
With WWE eliminating the boundaries, that separated them from other promotions; it is certainly an interesting time to be a fan of professional wrestling!
