WWE News: Injury update on NXT Superstar Dakota Kai
What's the story?
WWE NXT Superstar Dakota Kai, who has been out of in-ring action owing to a knee injury, has now taken to social media so as to provide fans an update on her injury status and comeback timeline.
Apparently, Kai has been recovering well, after having to deal with a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) -- So much so, that she alluded towards having gone for a jog/run in her favorite shoes as well.
In case you didn't know...
Dakota Kai (real name: Cheree Crowley) has performed for the WWE since 2015 -- sporadically appearing at WWE events.
Kai eventually signed with NXT in 2017, and has been a mainstay of the WWE's yellow brand ever since.
The heart of the matter
Dakota Kai suffered a knee injury at a WWE NXT house show earlier this year, and on January 17th, 2019, publicly confirmed that she'd torn her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
The injury is said to have taken place at a house show in December of last year, and the vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that Kai is likely to be sidelined from in-ring competition for several months owing to the torn ACL.
Per general medical guidelines, it usually takes around 6 months for an athlete to recover from an ACL tear -- with certain cases requiring around 9 months or more of recovery time.
Furthermore, it's noteworthy that in order for the athlete to regain their original range of motion, flexibility, etc., he/she would require upwards of the 6-9 month time period plus a strict rehabilitation program to efficiently recover and get back in competition shape.
Addressing her injury status, Kai has now taken to her official Instagram account, and insinuated that she is now able to jog and run -- something that's generally regarded as an incredibly positive sign for someone recovering from a serious knee injury. Fans can check out her Instagram post below --
What's next?
Fans can expect Dakota Kai to return around June of this year, particularly given her seemingly swift recovery, as evidenced by her social media posts.
Kai is likely to continue being featured as one of the prominent performers in the NXT Women's Division upon her on-screen comeback.
